Former Harper Adams student Harriet Wilson returned to campus to deliver a talk to the Harper Forum last week.
Speaking about the corporate responsibility of discount supermarkets in regards to farming, fish, forestry and Fair Trade, Harriet’s speech was a great success with staff and students alike. She encouraged students to take up every opportunity presented to them, making the most of their experiences at university and in their work placements. Most importantly, she advocated for building a strong network of contacts to help not only individuals succeed in their own careers, but to have a greater circle of people to make impactful changes with, together.
Loved being back at @HarperAdamsUni this evening! Thank you for inviting me to speak to students and staff at the @harperforum. Great to see some familiar faces too! #BestUni #FutureTalent #TrueBlue #HarperAlumini pic.twitter.com/jN6SLltTcx

Katie Kolita, a current Harper student, helped to organise the event. She commented how the forum is an excellent opportunity to speak to a wide range of people which, in turn, is helping to broaden her own horizons.
She said, “We have had great turnouts at the forum this year, which shows how popular the forum is with students and staff. We receive a mix of ages, from first years up to postgraduates and staff. Students are engaged and interested and often ask the speaker some quite hard questions!”
Despite the difficult questions, Harriet answered them all with detail and insight. The presentation was insightful and will have encouraged many to consider how corporate responsibility will impact them in the workplace and beyond.
